In writing Take Me Back, I intentionally left out any resolution or redemption. But that, of course, felt incomplete, and I decided I needed to write the full story. Beautiful Day is about the moment we decide to take charge of our own lives and choices. It's about growth through adversity, and how change in this way is up to us.

A lot depends on our perspective on life and struggle. The final chorus mentions how "the song is changing." That is in direct reference to the song preceding it on the record. Gone are the feelings of hopelessness and loss, and they are replaced by confidence and tenacity. The hammer shapes the steel, the fire hardens clay, and we are in the Hands of a Master Craftsman.
